Panel Cutting

PETG provides panel cutting for PETG sheets from our Epping base in Cape Town, supporting workshops, installers and display builders who need parts sized properly first time. We handle single panels and repeat jobs, with collection in the Cape Town area and nationwide courier on smaller orders.

Panel Cutting

Panel cutting for clean, ready-to-use sheet parts

The process is straightforward. Send through the sizes you need on the enquiry form and include the material thickness, quantity and any special notes such as film left on, hole marking or edge finishing. If the job includes repeated sizes or multiple panels for one project, we can arrange a cutting list so the parts are handled in order. That saves time at installation and reduces mistakes when the team is on site.

Once the order is confirmed, the sheets are cut in our Epping workshop using fixed cutting setups suited to straight panel work. We check the finished sizes, remove loose swarf, and prepare the pieces for collection or courier. For larger jobs, the panels are stacked and protected to avoid scratching in transit. If your project is for a showroom or customer-facing space, we can keep the protective film on where required so the surface stays clean until final fitting.

  • Submit measurements, quantity and notes through the contact form
  • We confirm the cutting list and material details
  • Panels are cut, checked and labelled
  • Collection or courier packing is arranged

What is included in a panel cutting order

A panel cutting order can be kept simple or built up with additional finishing where needed. The core service is accurate breakdown of PETG sheet into the sizes you require. Many clients also ask for edge deburring so that the panels are safer to handle and easier to assemble. Where holes must line up on site, we can add hole marking to the cutting list. This is especially useful for display builders, fitters and contractors working to fixed templates.

For repeated production runs, we can separate the order into smaller batches and label each pack clearly. That helps when a team is assembling units at different points during the day, or when a contractor is working across several sites in and around Cape Town, Paarl, Stellenbosch or Somerset West. If the job is going by courier, we also pack the sheets to reduce corner damage and shifting in the box.

  • Straight panel cuts to your supplied dimensions
  • Custom sizing for one-off or repeat jobs
  • Edge deburring for safer handling
  • Hole marking for fixing points and templates
  • Courier packing and job labelling for distribution

Turnaround times and job size planning

Turnaround depends on sheet thickness, quantity and how much finishing is required. Small straight-cut panel jobs can often be completed quickly, while larger batch work or jobs with labelling, hole marking and protective packing will need more time. If your order is for a site installation with a fixed start date, mention that up front so we can plan the cut sequence and avoid delays.

In Cape Town, weather and load-shedding can affect workshop schedules, so it helps to place repeat orders ahead of time. For coastal projects, especially where humidity and salt air are part of the site conditions, panel storage and handling matter too. PETG handles these conditions well, but the finished parts should still be stored flat, out of direct sun and away from high heat before fitting.

Typical order planning looks like this: same-day or next-day for small direct cuts, 2 to 4 working days for medium batch jobs, and longer for large panel breakdowns that need multiple pack sets or courier coordination. If the material is being collected from Epping, our team will let you know when it is ready for pickup.

Pricing approach for sheet breakdown work

Panel cutting is priced according to the sheet size, material thickness, number of cuts, quantity of parts and any extra handling such as edge deburring or hole marking. A simple one-off panel job is charged differently from a large batch with repeated sizes and packing requirements. This keeps the pricing fair for both small workshops and larger installers who place regular orders.

Where possible, we work from your final dimensions so there is less waste and fewer offcuts. That often lowers the overall project cost because you are not paying for unnecessary material. For commercial jobs, a cutting list can be priced as a batch, which is useful when you are quoting a client and need clear numbers before the install starts.

We are happy to advise on the most efficient sheet layout when you send through your measurements. That can reduce scrap, save time on the saw and help you get more usable parts from each sheet.

Handling, storage and maintenance between cutting and install

Once the panels have been cut, good handling keeps the finish in better condition. PETG sheets should be stored flat if possible, not leaned against a wall where they can bow or pick up pressure marks. Keep the protective film on until final fitting if the surface needs to stay clean. For jobs going into retail or display environments, avoid leaving the parts in a hot vehicle for long periods, especially in summer, because heat can affect the sheet shape.

For long life in service, wipe the panels with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid harsh solvents and rough pads. On installations near the coast, a regular clean is useful because fine salt and dust can build up on exposed surfaces. If panels are part of a working area with handling or repeated access, inspect fixing points and edges every few months so you can catch wear before it becomes a problem.

  • Store flat and keep out of direct sun before fitting
  • Leave film on until the last possible stage
  • Use mild soap and a soft cloth for cleaning
  • Check fixings and edges every 3 to 6 months on active installations

Questions we get asked

What kind of jobs suit panel cutting best?

Panel cutting suits workshop parts, display panels, covers, internal fittings and site-ready sheet sections where accurate sizing matters more than rough trimming.

Can you keep the protective film on the panels?

Yes. If you want the surface protected during transport or installation, we can leave the film on and pack the parts accordingly.

Do you cut large batch orders for installers?

Yes. We handle small batch and larger batch cutting, with labelling and packing available so the panels arrive in the right order for the job.
