Paarl Farm Counter

This Paarl farm stall needed a counter and display partition set that could handle daily food service, cleaning, and busy weekend trade. We cut the PETG to size in Cape Town and supplied the job with careful labelling for a clean onsite fit.

Paarl Farm Counter

Project brief for a busy Paarl farm stall

The client was a farm stall operator in Paarl looking for a practical counter set-up for front-of-house service and a clear partition between staff and customers. The brief was simple on paper but demanding in use: keep the serving area neat, allow visibility of the produce and staff, and make sure the panels could stand up to repeated cleaning, handling and warm summer trading conditions.

They wanted a food-safe material option with a clean appearance, accurate cut-outs and a layout that would slot into a fixed counter arrangement. Because the stall serves both passing trade and regular local customers, the finish had to look tidy from day one and still hold up after long market hours, dust and the odd knock from crates or trays.

What the job had to work around

The biggest constraints were size accuracy, hygiene, and the realities of a working farm stall. The counter area had limited space, so we had to keep the panel dimensions tight and make sure the edges would sit properly against the frame. There was also a need to reduce handling time onsite, which meant the set had to arrive correctly marked and ready for quick assembly.

  • Fixed counter opening with little room for error
  • Regular wipe-down cleaning between service periods
  • Need for clear sightlines across the display area
  • Transport to Paarl with safe packing to prevent scratches
  • Food-service use where smooth edges matter

In the Cape Winelands, summer heat and dust can show up quickly on a surface, so the material choice had to be practical rather than decorative. PETG suited the brief because it is easy to work with, keeps a neat appearance, and can be cut accurately for repeatable panels or partitions.

What we supplied and cut

We supplied sheet material cut to the required panel sizes for the counter front and the display partition set. The job included straight cuts, panel cutting, and edge deburring so the finished pieces were safe to handle and easier to install. Where the client needed openings and alignment points, we added hole marking to keep the fit consistent.

The panels were prepared with film left on where possible to help protect the surfaces during handling and final installation. Each piece was labelled clearly for the customer, which made it easier to identify the parts at the stall and reduced the chance of mix-ups during fitment. It sounds minor, but on a small site with several panels, good labelling saves a lot of time.

  • Custom panel sizes cut to the client’s measurements
  • Edge deburring for safer handling
  • Hole marking for fixing points and alignment
  • Film left on to reduce scuffing in transit
  • Job labelling for faster installation onsite

Timeline from enquiry to courier dispatch

The work moved from enquiry to completed cutting in about one week, with an extra few days allowed for packing and courier handover. Once the measurements were confirmed, our cutting team processed the panels, checked the finished sizes, and packed the order for collection and dispatch. For a farm stall project, that timing kept the fit-out moving without holding up trading plans.

Because the sheets were cut in Epping, Cape Town, the client did not need to source material from different suppliers or spend time trimming panels onsite. That also reduced waste. The final pieces arrived ready for use, and the customer could focus on installing the counter and partition set rather than correcting measurements. A small job can become a long one if the first cut is wrong, so we keep the process measured and steady.

Results on the finished counter

The finished result was a clean service counter with a practical partition set that supported the stall’s food-service workflow. The clear panels gave a tidy front-facing look, while the accurate cutting meant the pieces fitted into the existing structure without extra trimming. The client gained a more orderly serving area and a consistent presentation for customers passing through the farm stall.

For the team on site, the main benefit was speed and ease. The cut sheets were straightforward to install and easy to clean, which matters when you are serving early in the morning and again later in the day. The panels also helped create a clearer division between service and display, which keeps the counter area calmer when trade picks up.

  • Neat fit with less onsite adjustment
  • Cleaner presentation across the front counter
  • Easy wipe-down surfaces for daily use
  • Improved separation between service and display zones

What we would do again on a similar farm stall job

On a repeat project like this, we would use the same approach: confirm measurements carefully, allow for fixing points and label every piece before courier packing. For farm stalls in Paarl, Stellenbosch or Somerset West, that method works well because the sites often have tight openings, mixed materials and little time for rework. We would also recommend keeping the film on until the last possible stage to limit surface marks during installation.

If the client needed a larger run in future, we could scale the same job into small batch cutting or large batch cutting, depending on the layout. For counters with extra service features, we can also help with strip cutting, custom sizing, panel cutting and material advice so the order suits the actual use on site, not just the drawing.

For customers in the Western Cape, weather and handling matter just as much as the final look. A well-cut PETG set lasts better when it is sized correctly, packed properly and delivered with the right labels, especially when the site is busy and every minute counts.

Questions we get asked

Can PETG be used for food-service counters?

It is commonly used for food-service partitions and counter inserts where a clean, smooth, easy-to-wipe surface is needed. We always recommend checking the final application against the site’s hygiene requirements and fixing method.

Do you cut panels to size for Paarl projects?

Yes. We cut to size in Cape Town and courier finished work nationwide. For Western Cape jobs, clients also use our collection areas in Epping, Montague Gardens, Bellville, Parow, Somerset West, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Claremont.

What information do you need before cutting?

We need the finished sizes, thickness requirement, quantity, hole positions if any, and whether the protective film should stay on. If the job is for a counter or partition, a simple sketch with measurements helps a lot.
